End User License Agreement

Fair Terms for Professional Software

The Plain English Version

  • You're buying a license to use the software — not ownership of the code itself
  • Your data belongs to you — always has, always will
  • One license = one attorney — additional attorneys need additional licenses
  • We can't lock you out of your data — even if your license expires

You draft these for a living. We'll keep ours readable.

Your Data = Yours

Everything you create in TimeNet Law belongs to you. We have no claim to it.

No Hostage Data

Your data is stored in standard formats. Export anytime, no restrictions.

Fair Renewals

Subscription renewals at published rates. No surprise increases without notice.

Human Support

Real support from people who know the software. No chatbot runaround.

1. License Grant

Subject to this Agreement, TimeNet Law ("we," "us") grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

  • Install and use TimeNet Law on computers you own or control
  • Make reasonable backup copies for archival purposes
  • Use the software for your legal practice operations

This license is personal to you or your firm and may not be resold, sublicensed, or transferred.

2. License Types

Subscription License

Annual subscription provides:

  • Full software access for the subscription period
  • All updates and new features released during your term
  • Priority technical support
  • Automatic renewal (which you can cancel anytime)

Legacy (Perpetual) License

One-time purchase provides:

  • Perpetual right to use the version you purchased
  • One year of updates included
  • Option to renew for continued updates
  • Software continues to function even without renewal

Always Access Your Data

Regardless of license status, you can always access, view, and export your data. We don't believe in holding your work hostage.

3. Per-Attorney Licensing

Each attorney who uses TimeNet Law needs their own license. Support staff using the software to enter time or generate invoices on behalf of a licensed attorney do not need separate licenses.

Not sure how many licenses you need? Contact us — we're happy to help figure out the right setup.

4. Restrictions

You may not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels
  • Use the software to provide services to third parties (service bureau use)
  • Share your license credentials with unlicensed users

5. Your Data Rights

Let's be crystal clear:

  • You own your data. Client records, time entries, invoices, documents — all yours.
  • We can't access your data. It's stored locally on your Mac. We don't have it.
  • You can export anytime. Standard formats, no restrictions, no fees.
  • Termination doesn't erase your data. Your files remain on your computer.

6. Updates & Support

Active licenses include:

  • Software updates (features, improvements, compatibility fixes)
  • macOS compatibility updates as Apple releases new versions
  • Technical support via email

We aim to respond to support requests within one business day.

7. Warranty & Liability

TimeNet Law is provided "as is." While we work hard to deliver reliable software:

  • We warrant the software will perform substantially as documented
  • We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation
  • Our liability is limited to the amount you paid for your license
  • We are not liable for data loss — please maintain backups

You're attorneys. You understand why these limitations exist.

8. Termination

You may terminate this license at any time by uninstalling the software.

We may terminate your license if you materially breach this Agreement and fail to cure within 30 days of notice.

Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the software ends
  • Your data remains yours — accessible and exportable
  • No refunds for partial subscription periods (except as required by law)

9. General Terms

Governing Law: This Agreement is governed by the laws of Oregon, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Entire Agreement: This EULA, together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, constitutes the entire agreement between you and TimeNet Law.

Modifications: We may update this EULA. Material changes will be communicated via email with 30 days notice.
